Bandsaw

I'm looking to purchase a bandsaw for about £300 and I have narrowed it down to 3 possible contenders.

  1. Record BS250 10"

  2. Rutland

  3. Charnwood BS250 10" inc stand

I would appreciate any feedback , positive or negative, on which one to choose from all your years of experience between you.

Many thanks.

Ian,

I got a second-hand Charnwood 350 a few months ago - seems exaclty the same as the 250, just a bit bigger. All good so far: solid build and easy to set up, adjust etc. The Rise & Fall guard was stuck when I got it. Easy to remove and clean out. There is some back&forth movement on the blade, which I think is due to the 2 wheels not being exactly aligned. Charnwood tech support is fantastic. Following a quick call to discuss the issue they sent some instructions on how to adjust and fix it(which I will do when I get time). Interestingly the brand for the instructions is Rikon. I think it is exaclty the same bandsaw and maybe another brand worth looking at? Probably all made in China by the same manufacturer.
